Only in America is paying off a loan, with interest, five years early, is an example of a “Government Take-Over!”

OK, $8 billion down, where’s the other $32 billion? Barry is hoping that you don’t notice that.

Do you mention “ACORN Community Organizer” as if it’s a bad thing? Cause ACORN’s “sins” pale in comparison to the Halliburton and Blackwater “sins” as far as government funding and waste and scandal compared to ACORN. =\

A little ditty that makes me think of the GOP folk celebrating some good news for a change:

I love life and life loves me.

A happier man no where exists.

I think I’ll go and slash my wrists.

^^^^^^ I think the rest of the money wasn’t a loan, it’s stock owned by the US government. But I could be wrong. Who’s got the lowdown?

Can we just point out here that the source of the problem was GM itself? It has been run incompetently for 40 years, and one of their recent genius moves was to re-hire a previous CEO. Great. We got stuck with the bill for bailing them out because if GM went down, even more of the economy would go down with it. Not only that, but GM manufactures parts for all the other car companies building in the US - even Toyota. This would have a devastating effect on the economy. But they still haven’t gotten it together. Had they hired, say, Carlos Ghosh of Nissan/Renault to sort them out, or even asked for advice from Alan Mulally of Ford, I’d be more reassured.
