I’ve always enjoyed watching Bob paint. His shows are still being aired here on PBS late at night…Always loved his happy little trees and not being afraid ofthrowing in this and that…. R.I.P. Bob.
Scientific progress, for all the research, measuring and calculating, is still a series of happy accidents. New knowledge is always at odds with established knowledge, which is why it remained undiscovered so long.Anybody can paint a picture.
The joke is that Bob Ross always talked about having ‘happy accidents’ when he painted. 37 has no significance. It’s a play on when they have those signs in the workplace when they are ‘accident free’.
Perhaps Bob Ross had special significance to Dave Whamond. (Some other cartoon had a Bob Ross reference recently. I couldn’t find any sort of anniversary that might explain the coincidence.)
@frank corona: Yes, I thought I heard that Bob was actually a student of Bill’s, who was the “fiery Russian” doing these paintings before Bob. Instead of adding happy little clouds, Bill would always “fire it right in there”. :)

Still on my TV. Even if you didn’t paint, he was fun to watch and listen to. Such a soothing voice.
