I did that once, I was walking across a field, I thought it was a shortcut, and that the ditch was quite shallow. I ended up soaking wet and thoroughly unamused. Good thing it was July.
Don’t know how cold it is there, but I’d suggest heading back home for a warm bath followed by a hot toddy in front of a nice fire in the fireplace. Don’t want to get hypothermia.

Which way will Fred go? Probably back the way they came if he’s smart.
