The Gitmo detainees are not enemy soldiers, they are not criminals, they are Terrorists who either murder or support murder and who have declared their intent to destroy the western world. Treating them like citizens only elevates them above their true status of murderers. Our country owes them nothing. Operating outside international law, they are subject to summary execution.

“Pea”, as you’re aware, Gitmo and our other “prisons” and detentions overseas took noncombatant goatherds and CREATED suicide bombers and other radicals. WE are in THEIR LAND! WE ARE INVADERS!

I keep going back to the theme of that rather terrible movie “Red Dawn” that depicts OUR brave teenagers becoming combatants to drive out Russians and Cubans. Hmm, the threat from Cubans IS about the same as the odds of Afghans wanting to come invade America, well there is Cruz.

The British lost their “American” colonies to a bunch of ticked off rebels defending their homes. They later lost in Afghanistan for the same reason. We lost in Viet Nam for the same reason.

When will they ever learn?

It’s a bit difficult to follow your disjointed line of thought as well as your detours onto irrelevant side issues, but I gather you dislike Obama and you blame him for all that’s gone wrong in the world. So in the interests of trying to keep it simple and draw a logical conclusion based on fact, repeat over and over one of dtroutma’s lines until it finally registers in your brain: “WE are in THEIR LAND! WE ARE INVADERS!” Then when you have that down, ask yourself if perhaps a major reason for the escalation of terrorism in many parts of the world is the U.S. presence in THEIR country, killing THEIR people, with designs on controlling THEIR resources.

The inhabitants fighting against the American invasion and occupation do not really think in terms of European established borders. Think regions – the Land of Mohammed; the Islamic region; religious interests and values; Sunni, Shiite, Turks, and others. And they have one thing in common – they do not want the Americans and their supporters occupying their land, killing their people, and trying to control their resources.

@Hiram,I was not aware as you seem to be that gocomics.com is the New Testament Church, that the Apostle Paul wrote those words you quoted from 1 Timothy 2:12. Paul also wrote about “in Christ” the believers, men and women, were equal before God. It was assembly services and “sunday school” that “women are not to teach men”….and there were models Paul also approved of women in the church doing many kinds of works to benefit the church members.-The eternal life that faith in Jesus, bestows, is not conditional on anything other than FAITH. I never went to a church and tried to preach or teach Bible doctrines. -I do have the freedom to speak in public, that is equal to giving sinners my testimony, but my posts on this cartoon are not about Bible doctrine on the fundamentals of the Faith.-How do you manage to keep all the women in your life, on all subjects, SILENT, Hiram? Are you a Moslem, applying Sharia Law on all women? That has nothing to do with the God of the Bible. Only a fool would think that there are not many more whose efforts to kill non-Muslims continue after their release from incarceration. I’m not saying I support the tactics of ISIS nor am I trying to legitimize them. I am saying that ISIS and similar Islamic resistance groups are no different than a multitude of other groups throughout world history attempting to define national borders and establish order according to their values and beliefs..Britain thought the rag-tag group of patriots who fought them for territory in the War of Independence weren’t legitimate either. American nation building through Manifest Destiny did not have legal legitimacy. It was an idea or “an irresistible destiny to accomplish this essential duty.” .There is little doubt the Islamic patriots fighting for control of the land they were born on and occupy, who the Americans like to call terrorists, have far more legitimacy than the Americans had in invading Iraq through shock and awe tactics, on the basis of lies and deceit, replacing a sovereign government through force, killing and maiming hundreds of thousands of innocent people, displacing millions, and destabilizing the entire region probably for generations. Is there any wonder a large Islamic resistance group has sprung from the people who want nothing more than to rid the country of foreign invaders who they fear are there to control their resources and in the process displace their religion, culture, and values?
