The WSJ article appeared on a particular website and it only cited some facts. Interesting responses.

Beg to differ sir.. The mainstream media MSNBC, CNN, CBS, et al. was in full propaganda mode since before the Fox news coterie emerged. The left’s MSM delivered biased reporting for years, now well known as such to the viewing public, and now very low in ratings. Of course the Fox news folks are biased as well, but falsehoods and other propaganda from the leftist media have brainwashed more than one generation of otherwise good and decent Americans.. and then there are the University mills that teach what to think vs how to think.

That I would say is a straw man argument (all due respect)… I think the rise of the ’alternative media’ such as if not primarily Fox News, which is by no means perfect in its reporting, has been in response to decades of distorted reporting from the Left.

First, thank you very much for your politeness! :{)} Please understand that I never stated that I have a need for war weapons. I think that my comment made above was misunderstood by someone else. Perhaps you drew from that? But as regards any privately owned weapon I think that the drive against the so-named assault style weapon (not a machine gun which is truly an assault type weapon and unavailable to the public) is a canard of the Left (as was the ‘Fast and Furious’ scandal), and not unlike the hysteria about controlling climate change — a natural occurrence btw — via gov’t policy. I.e. it’s all just about gaining control of the economy as admitted by AOC’s ex-chief of staff. You see, it is my belief that the policies and agenda of the Left is not about safeguarding the planet or the population. But via for example the Green New Deal and gun control in conjunction with the complicit and corrupt mainstream media (remember the Soviet Union’s Pravda?), it is about ‘controlling the population’ – the first steps towards totalitarianism.

BTW: I am restating my earlier (misunderstood?) comment just below for your convenient reference:

“Hmmm.. it appears that law enforcement is battling both the criminals and the Left at the same time, and losing at both. Case in point, Baltimore Maryland and Portland Oregon. I can’t generalize that most gun owners won’t join a military or law enforcement service as there are age restrictions in both. A rhetorical question – are we aware of any studies showing that the average available and qualified armed citizen would refrain from doing so in any case?”

Other than that comment I can’t find where I could possibly have explicitly stated a need for war weapons. Perhaps implicitly? If that’s the case then yes, there is the 2nd amendment assuring ownership of guns and thereby a population that could inhibit or discourage a tyrannical gov’t.

    Thank you for this exchange.

All due respect, not to quibble (too much ;{)} ), PBS is long known to be a vested member of the mainstream media complex. One might therefore read with a grain of salt its contribution to public knowledge and discourse.

All due respect – as regards my comment – at the recent Democrat debate, Mr. Castro likewise misheard and misconstrued a comment made by Mr. Biden. And Mr. Castro’s emotional response was also detached from the facts in Mr. Biden’s comment. - Again, it was good to see a recent ‘reasoned’ and ‘respectful’ discussion between Sen. Cruz and Ms. Milano. Would that this forum have that constructive and respectful tone in place of snark and ignorance.
