Body cameras are a good idea. A better one is independent prosecutors for suspect cops. The present relationship between police and prosecutors is positively incestuous.
Over 12 million arrests a year in the U.S., and things go south in a few cases, and that’s all the media, on either side, take note of.
Anyone who thinks there isn’t discrimination, subtle or overt in this country is insane, or stupid, but I know far more “good cops” than bad ones. I also arrested more “bad citizens” (over 1,200) than good (none) in my law enforcement era.
I support the use of cameras, as dashboard cameras have by FAR shown the “bad guys” being bad, than bad cops. Cameras MIGHT help BOTH sides. In the New York case however, as nobody seems as willing to show the EMTs and cops caring for the man after his arrest, camera footage can indeed be edited for “political purposes” if it just isn’t shown.
I am sickened by discrimination, including against police officers, as well as “minorities”, in the media, or public mind. But “reverse” discrimination is equally bad.
That a man with serious medical problems succomed is a sad event. Maybe the Mayor, and those wanting to “clean up” New York should consider the methods they tell police to use in getting panhandlers, and other misdemeanor “criminals” off the streets to make them look “cleaner and safer”???
BTW: she had camera but Ashcroft and Gonzales stomped it into the ground, totally destroying it, and covering her in a blue dress, ’er excuse me, blue TARP, to keep America from seeing them rape her.

What’s the point of cameras, when cops are above video evidence?

If they took the blindfold off, maybe she could see what is actually going on, and give us some REAL justice!

Now, I wonder what would have happened if a civilian had been video taped applying a choke hold to a police officer? Comments?

At least her body is covered up. Thank you, Mr. Ashcroft.
