I remember joining the whole town, turning out to greet the Meade County football team, including the fire trucks, when they won region. State was far beyond their reach but for one night, the entire county joined in the celebration!
The parade and celebration were amazing. I think the feelings of the team and the town were best captured in John Pascoe’s eloquent victory speech, which I have transcribed here:
Wouldn’t they usually put the NAME of the state on the trophy? Another letdown, reminds me of when they were supposed to reveal Quincy’s first name at his wedding. I guess some mysteries are not meant to be solved
Fire trucks? I don’t recall any fire trucks. The smoke in Milford remains thick from the burning couches sacrificed for a State Championship. Unusual that the student body gets to touch and feel the new hardware.
In all reality , Hey Mop mop the dried blood body outlines off the steps in P2. Kudos to the Aliens for donating the most unique state championship trophey in the galaxy. Anyone have video of me gettting hit by the fire truck escort
