Animals can get away with acts that humans can’t, like public nudity. We can legally harm animals in ways we legally can’t harm humans. It stands to reason that we can legally help animals in some ways that we can’t legally help humans.But laws against feeding homeless people are unjustifiable. You think loitering unpleasantly is worse than starvation? You vilify the time-honored virtue of charity? No exception for friends? What if someone merely LOOKS homeless? Do they have to carry a deed or something? And what do you think they’ll resort to if they can’t beg?If Barney takes the issue to court for an extended arc, I will gain vast respect for this comic. But I don’t count on it.

Following up on yesterday’s comments, the question here isn’t whether animals have souls or not but whether it’s okay to feed the homeless or not.
