All of these jokes about fruit cake are a bit tiresome.Personally I feel that fruit cake is just AWFUL.But they do make good ballast and a trunk full is just as good as sandbags.
I’ve only had two fruitcakes that I deemed good. One was a mail-order number from a company that went out of business 20 years ago or so. The other was home-made by my (ex)wife. Both were moist, intense, and delicious. They were also so dense, you could only eat a very small amount (approx. 1 cm x 3 cm x 3 cm.) before you went into overload.
