Still, those marks are pretty creepy.

Neither am I……..oh god they brought a clown mask.

I love how the client does actually look rather scared.

How does that strike-through text work? It seems to have something to do with using hyphens.Text – between hyphens – Doesn’t always do it.

So then the hyphens immediately adjacent to the text cause the strikeouts

But hyphens – set off by a space – do not.

Thank you, Al! That explains what I was seeing, along with a lot of other options.

There is some discussion of these features under the topic of “gmail chat,” but I haven’t found a complete outline anywhere.
