I remember hearing about the Scot store merchant who realized that he had short-changed a customer. Seeing him leaving, he ran to the window and rapped on it with a sponge, trying unsuccessfully to get the man’s attention.
I remember Safeway’s discounted store brand was called Scotch Buy. A cut above generic.
