    Unless a synthesizer is used actors will still have a job doing voice overs; then they will have equal value as the writers and the blame for a bad production.

    It’s true that the technology will allow for fully functional CGI actors. However, if that becomes the norm, books will immediately begin to outstrip film. If you know it’s all imaginary, your own imagination will become more attractive. Of course, one option is for CGI actors to be digital clones of human actors whose only role will be to give their digital counterparts a public persona. But when it’s known that that is the case, people will largely lose interest in them.

    The path is obvious; it will all happen someday, and not too long from now. My hope is for new movies with Marilyn Monroe or John Wayne. Haven’t you seen that TV commercial with Audrey Hepburn? The technology is still a bit crude, but just go watch some CGI movie from 20 years ago and marvel at what they’ve done, then think of what they will do.
