Maybe one of the contestants in this war over territory should have been depicted as female. It ain’t just men who do this. (“On Tuesday, a Florida woman was removed from a flight from New York to West Palm Beach after she “flipped out” when a seat back was reclined in front of her, reported ABC News.”<http://www.boston.com/news/nation/2014/09/02/the-war-the-reclining-airplane-seats-continues-with-another-flight-diversion/TuhYpHAyM086ygqmsJJQIK/story.html>)
We passengers have become cattle to the airlines. If we complain aboard a flight, we are taken out by police. Probably soon it will be cattle prods – BAD cow….
TTM: I haven’t flown in six years, but back then, there was a wide range in how far back a seat would recline. There was also a wide range in comfort of a fully upright seat. On Southwest, I didn’t have to recline my seat at all, it was comfortable without that. On Delta, however, a fully upright seat was horrible; I had to recline it an inch or two or suffer miserably for the entire flight. I liked being in a seat that was all the way to the rear, so the small bit of recline only affected how close I was to the wall. The airlines that allow a large amount of recline are accessories to the ASSHOLES who tilt the seat as far back as it will go, trying to squash the life out of me and evoke nerve-wracking claustrophobia. I am fully on the side of the people who react strongly to that sociopathic activity.
If we weren’t so cheap , and were willing to pay airlines enough to make a good profit, then they wouldn’t be nickelndime’ ing us to death.. They don’t even make enough to buy adequate fuel.
Part of the strategy on U.S. carriers IS to force people to upgrade to more expensive seating, just like the huge profits they now reap from those baggage fees. Foreign carriers are generally far better. Also, there’s the fact airlines used to largely control fuel prices, but the oil companies took that control away, and now they nail the airlines, just like folks at the pump, whenever they feel the need for a bigger yacht for the CEOs and boards.

The airlines pushed the boundaries of personal space a bit too far.

And here I thought the “game of inches” was when guys bought fancy cars or trucks to compensate for a lacking in the “downstairs” area.
