We'll be greeted as liberators! Which is worse? Not having a strategy for war... or having a strategy that costs $1 trillion, kills 4,500 Americans and creates enemies like ISIL?
“And what will you be saying about the great (non) strategy after the next terrorist attack on America that costs thousands of deaths IN A SINGLE DAY?”Probably the same thing many of us said regarding a great non-strategy on September 12, 2001.
“but but but but but but but buuuussssh,Oh please, If the surge and bush was such a failure then why did Obama campaign that it worked, that the middle east was stable enough to get out. That Obama with no time line of his own, no diplomacy just looked at the clock and bugged out on the timeline of bush. And was it not the programs that GW bush set up that “got that Bin guy? In pakistine, while Obama was telling us we need go raid the poppy fields of Afganistine?”-Exactly. President Obama and Vice President Biden were more than happy to take credit for the state of Iraq when it was still in the condition that President Bush had left it. But President Obama seemed to think he could completely withdraw American support from the fledgling and beleaguered democracy without any consequences to the country or (more importantly) to himself. When he was warned of ISIS he dismissed them as a “Jayvee Team” and did nothing to stop their advance. We and the Iraqi people (but especially the Iraqi people) are now feeling the dreadful results of President Obama’s disengaged foreign policy decisions. -The desperation of President Obama’s defenders is pathetic. Of course no one can seriously believe that President Bush created ISIS, so the cartoonist must deceptively suggest that President Bush somehow created groups “like” ISIS. But it was not under President Bush that this band of murderers grew strong and powerful – and it clearly would not have, were someone like President Bush currently in office.
Minor correction; Iraq alone is going to end up costing well over THREE TRILLION DOLLARS. Costly way to get Saddam hung for putting a contract out on “Daddy”.
Total Error in this cartoon and its defenders.-No Western government “created” Jihadism, its roots are in the early 1900s in Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood trying to bring back the Sword and the Crescent of Mohammad, that beheaded its way to control of every country the Moslem Warriors set foot in. No one started aggressive wars against Islam, if wars were fought, it was DEFENSE…(even the Crusades were a reaction to the aggressions of Islam).Every government controlled by Islamists is an APARTHEID GOVERNMENT…..in fact and in Sharia’s “demi” laws.-ISIS is trying to re-establish the “world” Caliphate and regain the Ottoman Empire only more….their goal is the entire earth! They use every excuse and alibi available….fake “issues” to cover a naked aggression to control the world. It is recorded in history books of the West, but Islamics reject facts and evidence and write their own invented “history”….-If you condemn using military force to stop them, what then will you do? Lay out the “welcome mat” and kneel under a white flag? Or oppose them with flowers and “peace tracts”?
“Only a handful of countries bought into Bush’s lies, and all of them lived to regret it. Just ask Tony Blair.”-The facts will be fixed to fit the policy.
“Oh, it’s okay for your team to misquote and quote out of context but when someone does it to you, wah, Wah, WAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!”-Please provide an example of me misquoting another commenter on this site. -While I wait, I will consider whether there was any way I could have objected to ReFlex’s misquotation which would not have drawn your sneering reply.
The great cartoons are timeless. This one would be just as relevant, insightful, and ridiculous 70 years ago. Just replace ISIL with Nazi. I was there, the general population did greet us as liberators. Judging the war on terror by the reaction of criminals like ISIL is like judging the morality of WW II by the reaction of the Nazi occupation army.
My opinion is that Bush defended the country. You can believe the lie that is thought to be truth, but history will prove him right about the WMD being secretly sent to Syria and Iraq having the most likelyhood of becoming a “democratic” state. Also, Obama has spent our grandkids future already. And we have nothing to show for it except government growth and waste.

Not having a strategy now – is better than running headless into something like a certain other, extending the truth about having wmds …

President Obama is still trying to come up with a strategy to pay all those invoices he found on his desk, after his inauguration.

Remember when Bush said he “didn’t care” about Osama bin Laden? His successor had NO problem finding him.
