The itch may be due to the tadpole. Or is that a plecostomus or a leach?

Reminds me of the leeches that attached to Humphrey Bogart in the “African Queen.”

I check the spelling of plecostomus. I should have looked up leach and leech.

Red may soon have a streak running down his back, and it won’t be yellow…

Years ago (everything is years ago once you reach a certain age), we were at a family reunion at our uncle’s place up north. He had a fair amount of property near Lindstrom, MN on Center Lake. Anyway, all the kids were swimming in the lake, when one of my cousins stepped out of the water only to find a significant portion of her body covered with leeches..Her scream got my attention, and as my sister and other cousins got up on the beach, I am sure you could hear the racket all the way back to Minneapolis! I also had leaches on my legs and much of my body including my face. Most of the guys thought it was cool; but, not so much the girls..The moms came running towards the kids, and using handkerchiefs, started wiping the critters off everyone’s skin. I never understood why our parents would not allow us to swim any more that afternoon…
