A gentleman is a man who knows how to play the accordion, … but doesn’t.

A perfect pitch, is accordion thrown into a dumpster and hits a bag pipe.

Wonder if we could work in a reference to Al Yankovich..The original version of My Bologna, on a Doctor Demento record album (NOT the officially released version) featured Weird Al accompanying himself on accordion, no other artists or instruments..It is alleged that this version was done in a bathroom stall..Has much more class than the version Weird Al released on his commercial sounding album.

I, for one, have seriously enjoyed this week of nostalgia. Perhaps I speak (relatively) alone; there has been a dearth of commentators this week. Perhaps there is a fear that this strip, along with Doonesbury, Get Fuzzy, and others, has “gone classic” (as in, no more new panels)..I don’t think so. I hope not..But what I do hope is that Stantis might review these original strips and see how he might work in the relationship between Carmen and Winslow back into the continuing comic strip..Yes, I know Stantis is primarily a political cartoonist. Yes, I know he is predominantly conservative (even if some of his readers are not)..But he has created a strip with a couple of lovable characters, and they have a story to tell, as well….On another subject: Dick Locher, whom Stantis looked up to, had similar problems with his strip, Dick Tracy. Locher, too, was primarily a political cartoonist, and he was predominantly conservative. But that was not the problem with Dick Tracy..I will say something here that might upset some Dick Tracy fans (of the Locher era, at least): I think the problem Dick Locher had was that his heart was no longer in Dick Tracy..What does this say about Stantis and Prickly City (original and current)? I’ll leave that to others to decide..I just wish we had more Carmen and Winslow..They were funny and I loved them.

I just wonder where all the hob-goblins and trolls ran off to? Nice and peaceful out.
