haha, I remember reading these in a book collection. I got into “The Boondocks” from a collected edition of the first strips, so it was weird for me to shoot ahead to “modern” (at the time) strips and realize that McGruder had dropped the character entirely so that he could do a lot of “Huey looks at the reader” strips and talk to his new friend (who appeared to be there just so Huey could rant at a semi-sympathetic figure).
