@Jonathan MasonMark Twain’s “Adventures of Tom Sawyer,” a bit of innocuous American literature but Tom Sawyer also appeared in Twain’s controversial classic, “Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.”

Maybe they censored that book where Jonathan went to school.

I think Twain is arguably the best American writer ever. So it would be unfortunate if any English-using country didn’t study him, at least somewhat.

I wouldn’t sell out for snacks, especially since I was more into the future than the past at 6.

The way to a tiger is through his stomach. (Calvin should keep this in mind on his photo safari to the Jurassic since the same could be said about dinosaurs.)

We all know Hobbes is smarter than Calvin, but he can’t overcome his basic need to devour snacks. There are many real-life analogies I could make…but won’t.

Is anyone bothered that he is having difficulty talking a stuffed animal into something?

I didn’t study Mark Twain or Harriet Beecher Stowe in school, but my father had the books and I read them. It’s a pity that they are banned now in so many places as being “politically incorrect”.

The odd thing about them being “politically incorrect” is that they were “politically incorrect” when they were written for an entirely different reason. Originally they were considered incorrect because they showed the humanity of black people and that they were equals, and thus set the stage for civil rights. Years later people forgot the original message entirely and look at words that, while authentic, are not used the same way today.

When you time travel with a tiger, just bring your own snacks; the tiger will figure out something to eat.

Hopefully, imagination and good humor will never be banned, so that future generations will continue to be able to enjoy Calvin and Hobbes.

Hobbes a stuffed animal? Seems preposterous. He sure doesn’t look like one. And how could a stuffed animal talk and eat snacks? Believing that Hobbes is a stuffed animal takes a lot of imagination.

Hobbes is a “stuffed” animal only when he eats all the snacks…

Calvin wants to travel back in time and he taunts his pet tiger Hobbes by saying he has all sorts of fun-to-eat snacks for the trip!
