John is the male social equivalent of the girlfriends and/or wives who often get "America’s Stupidest Criminals arrested.

I honestly think Lynn forgot about that story line but I highly agree with you on everything you just said

I think John may have said that one on purpose.

But in the storyline, when Phil realized Connie was no longer interested, he flipped out and decided he had to have her. I remember a scene with Phil and Farley singing the blues together (one had been drinking). Maybe that’s what John is referring to.

I think Connie is about to move away temporarily, which is when she meets her eventual husband Greg.
