Ted Rall for May 12, 2014
Transcript:
When one person dies, a universe dies. (Man: The things I've seen... the loves I've felt... 404 Error.) The cynical flipside is the only reality we care about is our own. (Man 2: 10% raise! The economy is boomin'!) We feel real. Everyone and everything else feels like scenery. (Man 2: Laid off! Collapse! Depression!) Individual realities help explain the gap in the climate change debate. (Man 3: It's a hoax.) (Woman: Open your eyes!) According to a study by the national climatic data center. The NYC metro area and southern California- where liberal media elites live - have gotten at least 2 degrees hotter during the last century. (Man: Hotpocalypse!) Meanwhile, the conservative south has gotten slightly colder. (Man 4: More lies.) (Woman: Every summer at my Hamptons Beach House, the crystal blue waters of the Atlantic draw never nigh. Also: Tornadoes.) Fortunately. Liberal media elites are excellent at explaining climate change.

Once again, Ted proves that, rather than oversimplifying things, a cartoon can actually make things totally incomprehensible. So, as I see it, he’s saying that everyone is wrong, because the liberal elites say global warming is happening and conservatives say it isn’t but nobody gets the fact that Tedworld is the only world only depending on your own reality is stupid. Thanks, Ted.

I kind of like the strip. It is obvious most people walk around with their own version of reality firmly implanted in their heads and spend little or no time trying to determine the facts. It is much easier to simply make up one’s mind and not do any research on the issue.

It seems to me that unless you compute cimate models yourself, you should keep your mouth shut about it (either direction). Otherwise you are just repeating what you heard somebody say, and unless they actually compute their own climate models, they should keep their mouth shut about it..Go directly to those who have computed models. They are the only ones who actually know what they are talking about.

So both those denying climate change and those accepting it are not only wrong but bad? And only you, Ted, are both right and good? You’re slipping into solipsism, man.

Duh, tornados are extremely rare in the Hamptons. The operative description would be hurricanes.

Ted, some of us are actually capable of thinking beyond ourselves. Does happen. Get over it.

When the NOAA can make better predictions of the weather than the Farmer’s Almanac maybe I’ll start listening to them…

Maybe some of the liberal climate whisperers can explain a few things to me…The most dire predictions of sea level increase seems to be about 5 feet. Why do I keep seeing maps showing the future coastline 100 miles or more inland? Will the whole planet become a desert? I’ve seen predictions that the Sahara will return to being arable land like it was a few thousand years ago. Seems like with more heat, there will be extra moisture in the air.. it’s gotta come down somewhere. Why are the predictions rated by climate scientists as ones they are least confident in, the ones they all seem to agree on?

“404 Error” Kind of catchy, think I’ll have that carved on my tombstone.
