    You mean AMNESTY, right Robby?With youth unemployment under Barry at 24% and amongst Black youths at 30%, you want to add about 12 MILLION illegals to those taking away the few good jobs left?I have no idea how anybody under 65 still votes for Democrats.

    Here’s a crazy thought, how about we work on making the LEGAL option more accessible? It seems that would go a long way toward stopping ILLEGAL immigration.

    It is impossible to get here legally. That’s why the immigration system is described as “broken.” The immigration reform bill has been examined by competent economists, and it would create jobs for Americans, strengthen social security, and greatly reduce the federal deficit. The only reasons to oppose it are Obama-hatred and immigrant-hatred, and those are insurmountable obstacles in the House.

    People continue to illegally cross the border because they are able to find work even without documentation. You’ll notice that immigration reform doesn’t include harsh penalties for companies that hire illegal immigrants.

    It’s a system. There are businesses want the illegals as cheap labor. If the illegals were all let in as legal immigrants the businesses would have a harder time exploiting them. But the businesses don’t want them thrown out, because they want the cheap labor. Sure, throw out some for the sake of appearances, but make sure they are replaced by other illegal immigrants. I don’t expect that there will be much reform, because the people who would benefit from reform don’t get to vote.

    Why reform? If you want more immigrants, increase the existing quotas. But you won’t try that, because you know the majority doesn’t want that.

    I suppose it’s time for my usual observation that every immigrant group to arrive in the US, wants to shut the door behind them. I suppose it’s human nature to want to keep a good thing to yourself.There were absolutely no restrictions on immigration until the late 19th century. The first restrictions were targeted specifically at Asian immigrants. We didn’t have any real quotas until the 1920s.While actual numbers are at all time highs, we had a much higher percentage of immigrants compared to native population from the mid-1800s through the 1930s. Contrary to assertions that past immigrant groups quickly learned English & assimilated, it took at least as long for previous groups to leave ethnic enclaves & become “American”. In recent years, more Mexicans seem to have gone back to Mexico than have come to the US. Poor job prospects here combined with better job prospects back home shifted the balance far more effectively than any fence.We still have millions of people here who are already part of the fabric of our nation. I suppose we could try to send them all back, including the ones married to American soldiers. Seems counterproductive to me.

They de-criminalized being an undocumented immigrant in 2011.
