What are the substitution rules when using rats in a cannibal stew recipe?

It is probably a cultural thing. I’ve read somewhere that in SE Asia the rats from the rice / grain fields are often captured and eaten. That they are cleaner and healthier than ‘city / garbage’ eating rats. I’m not sure if this is true… but If their chef knows what he’s doing, the rat(tatooie) may not come back and bite them in the health inspection. *Besides many people in the US eat Squirrel and a squirrel is nothing more than a rat with good PR.

I think I’d never want to be surprised if I asked what’s in some dishes I rather like. Ignorance definitely is bliss.

Of course, Manuel (Fawlty Towers) was horrified to hear they’d put Basil in the ratatouille.

To quote Granny Clampett … What kind of place is Beverly Hills to eat? You can’t even find a good ’Possum shank to buy?

I’d rather have (cooked) rat in the broth than a “Crunchy Frog” chocolate.

In the days of sail, many aboard ships captured a rat and fed it with ship biscuits—and then at the rat!

Rattittui MUST have at least one actual “rat” in the recipe…….Fix enough of it and the rodent problem will cease to exist.

Our city health officer (the guy that makes all those annoying rules) commented during a garbage strike about the city rats. “If a rat is well fed and living a stress free life, it will be healthy. Don’t worry. Our rats are healthy.”.So our rats are well fed, have no stress and are very healthy, disease free chubby rodents.
