Then he’ll throw a few thousand more pages of regulations on business on how to hire, pay, treat, look at, or whatever workers to “help” them costing business thousands more a year and giving them even more incentive to pass on hiring you.
I keep hearing about a “living wage” but no one can tell me what that means. Why not make the minimum wage $50 per hour no matter what the worth of the job is. Or $75 per hour?
The problem with the conservative approach is they no longer represent the middle class. They want to reduce taxes which does little to help those in poverty, they want little or no government, they want to spend on a military that is bigger than the sum of the next sixteen countries, and they want to enforce their beliefs on everyone else. Not much in there for me.
Any business – large or small – should be welcome to pay whatever it deems necessary to retain the quality of employee it desires. By what right does any one business (or government) impose its decision on everyone else? Where is the freedom of choice?
Nice! you managed to make Obama look like a 1970’s blaxsploitation tv episode slumlord pimp while touting your right wing economics swill. Nice dog whistle racism. You’re right up there with the best of them. Kudos.
I don’t understand. Anyone who can explain, please do.
I see numerous posters on this site who maintain one thing, are proven to be mistaken by others who explain the reasoning and often cite independent sources, and then those same posters maintain the same thing over and over.
Similarly, essentially the same thing shows up when people ask “how can you possibly think that way?”, someone answers….again with reasoning that can be easily followed, and then the same poster asks over and over “how can you possibly think that way?”
It’s as if their minds are closed before they pretend to have them opened. Why do people do this? If you really want to learn something, why do you refuse to learn it when someone is willing to teach it to you? Why even bother to spend the time asking?
Well of course conservatives support a “fair” tax. What a fair tax equates to is a massive tax cut for the wealthy and a massive tax increase for the poor. Sounds fair to me. Not. In the 20th Century, Republicans were OK with just ignoring poor people. In the 21st, the idea is that the poor should be punished. The wealthy don’t have enough money and the poor have too much. I could go on, but trying to have a sensible discussion with right-wingers today is like talking to a brick. Except the brick has more brains.

So that’s what he meant by a “Laser like focus on jobs”.
