The major reason colleges have gotten so expensive is government subsidy through loans and grants..Example: A college is charging $500 for a semester of study. A student is paying cash to go to school. The government comes along and offers to loan the student $500 (or will give a grant of the same size) to go to school. The school recognizes this and figures they can have the best of both worlds. They raise tuition to $1000 and get the $500 from the government and the $500 from the student. What could be better for business… And, colleges are businesses… than that?

Colleges are so expensive because they have no reason to be cheap. Demand is high and supply is limited. Charge what ever the market will bear and higher a lot of cheap TAs to do the teaching.

the TA’s do the teaching and the profs get three figure salaries, and then go on strike to get a raise. And then the Administrators build a new stadium to show off the work of their million-dollar coaches…..

I think cutting government aid to universities is a perfect answer. I also think they should be using their endowments and reserve funds to help students.Harvard has Billions in endownment funds. Most major universities have hundreds of millions in endowments. Why have all that cash sitting around doing nothing? .It would also eliminate the many diploma mills out there that subsist on government grants and loans without too much concern for whether their students graduate or learn anything.

From there you can go into trades, or liberal arts. However in terms of Engineering and the Sciences (Business I find varies), you actually need a full university for the sooner and the later you want to be at a university with good research credentials

Enoki has obviously never heard of a land grant college, or noted that from the very beginning of the nation, education has been the recipient of every land disposal law passed by Congress. Of course with only a pre-school education, what to expect from some.
