Sounds good until you max them out….happened to me back in the early 90s. Had a contract not renewed by my employer, then had to live off unemployment and charge cards for 7 months. By the time i found work, my cards were almost maxed out, and the job i took involved a move, and a $10,000 downward relocation of my salary. Unfortuately, my bills did NOT relocate downward accordingly. Took me a decade to finally dig my way out, and had to liquidate one retirement fund to do so.

So, not the best way unless the cards will be used to finance job searches…..

I was so there, John K. Just when you think you’re a little ahead of the game, life throws you a pink slip.

This story thread is actually new. I reworked it from the original story when Lila got a job at GetGo Insurance. I didn’t like that thread and changed it, especially given our country’s current unemployment problem. I wanted to recognize and pay tribute to those who are unemployed right now. Unfortunately, this thread will end but many still remain unemployed after months and years… Let’s all send them positive thoughts!

Too bad that Boyd is gay – they make a great couple. I think they are mutually supportive and be one of the increasingly rare couples that enjoy a long marriage.
