I have been astonished at the number of rescues needed this year of people who can’t seem to stay out of semi-frozen water, and the dogs and children they can’t care for properly to keep THEM out. I can understand a backyard pond. But LAKE MICHIGAN?? Really??!? Instead of assuming that, because of the cold, it’s frozen, assume that because it’s close to shore it’s shallow enough to stay semi-warm but still deep enough to drown in. Haven’t got the brains of….a Border Collie.
