@Thomas Scott Roberts… awww, are you saying that Kathy isn’t as ‘normal’ as Carolina or Sue? ;-) …Well, honestly, who wants to be ‘normal’? Kathy is unique (just like the rest of them), which is way better than ‘normal’. Roy just needs to keep being Roy.
I love every member of this strip for their own uniqueness. I like a strip where I can identify with a character (Kathy) or see my family/friends/co-workers in other characters.
I once heard that “normal” is just a word selected by boring people in an attempt to put down those of us who are more interesting.
Seriously, though, I have always been too shy to make friends by myself; Cuddles Cockatoo (as my alter-ego) was a great ice breaker, and my new friend is a performer ;-) My BP has been very easy to control just with breathing in the last few weeks (135/71 this morning- no meds).
I am sad to hear yet again a reference to a ‘defect’. I have read your posts for some time and am sure you are more open minded than that suggests. Don’t let these mass population stereotypes keep their grip. I think they are the real subliminal defect.I once had a shrink tell me my anxiety levels were abnormally high. I couldn’t help but wonder if all of you who are not like me have levels too low. I have learned things about being human that would have eluded me if I was ‘normal’. I want nothing to do with such things.
The dry, clinical definition of normal is ‘the greatest number of samples.’ If there are 100 people, fifty of whom have blue hats, 30 of whom have red hats, and 20 of whom have yellow hats, then blue would be the norm, or ‘normal.’It’s only popular connotation that altered the word into a judgement on acceptability.
