Al S is riffing on the words in French… but I don’t know whether he noticed, as I didn’t, a few hours ago, that the pipe in the comic is smoking.
It’s barely visible at the resolution we can get…but I guess the point of the strip, unlike the point of the painting, is that maybe it IS a pipe.
