If he wants Jo Stafford, he could just call the station and make a request.

I’m appalled every time I hear of music of the ’90s as “oldies”. But then I realize that there was a time in my life when I thought twenty years was a long time.

Satellite radio (like Sirius) has channels by decade: 40s, 50s, etc. You can call up “your generation’s” music as you please. And it’s Plugger-friendly, too! Just pick a channel.

Yeah, well, I’m gonna go start my own oldies station! With blackjack! And hookers! In fact, forget the station!

oldies stations have the music they are told to play, just like all others. I am sure that payola is still around. The older music might still sell recordings to people who aren’t into burning their own music. There is definitely music that will get no play(maybe that is a good thing) And other music that does get play when no one asks for it. The station says that they never play the same one twice in a day, but you hear it every day at about the same time.

Saturday nights I like to spend with Mike Harvey. He’s live and he’ll play almost anything callers ask for. Sadly he is only on for 6 hours and then it’s back to the usual recorded stuff. Our local NPR station used to play Classical (Real Oldies) but they switched to a talk format. May their transmitter melt down! I despise talk radio.

If all you people would learn to use an ipod, you could have all your favorites, and never have to change a record or tape, or even a cd. I’m 64, and my friend and I spend all our time downloading our favorite oldies and load them onto an ipod
