Morin showing his age.I haven’t seen a main-frame tape-drive since the ‘80s. As kids we used to have the cupboard housing of an obsolete one in our room [my elder brother was a mainframe support engineer, later a programmer].It had a handy glass window in the front and fans underneath to keep our clothes cool and visible. :-|

The Ideal:A modern computer server room might look like this:

Something like what our server room looks like:

Google’s server rooms, what we all aspire to:

I have no bone in your fight; you can imagine what your ACA’s server room looks like from the above examples. :-|

I’ve been in computers since 1965, everything from computer operator on the old mainframes, programmer, network specialist and security specialist. My last gig was working for the government and why anybody wants the government to expand their reach is beyond me, the government is even more wasteful than I had ever thought. About 30% of the government employees do 90% of the work, the rest are dead weight and they’re all overpaid. As far as the ACA rollout, the government thinks it’s wise to have the people writing the code, doing beta test and debugging the code. That never works, the people doing beta test and debugging the code should have no idea how the internals of the program works.

Cute. I hadn’t thought of that. Republiclans are endlessly inventive about sabotage.

“Motin is an idiot. There is no way Obama will ever hire a Republican to his Staff.”You are projecting your idiocy, Pres. Obama has done that more than a few times.

Tigger said, 42 minutes ago@martensYou are wrong.Had The Democrats actually read the ACA before passing it, they would have removed all of the crap The Republicans inserted. Had Obama actually read the ACA before he signed it, he would have vetoed the ACA and told The Democrats to start anew and send him a Single Payer Bill."You don’t believe the democrats should have negotiated with the republicans at all?

Lady, democrats were negotiating with republicans and it had things in the bill republicans wanted, they were left in with hopes of getting republicans to vote for it.

At least an abacus has one big advantage over the Obamacare website… It has good data security!

Republican question: Obamacare will destroy the nation. And why is it taking so long to roll out?

Actually’ I’ve worked in IT for the last twelve years. Deploying software from requirements through development, testing and implementation. Our vendors develop and test the software, then we test it and then our customers test it. And then we go live.My point is that there isn’t anything wrong with the vendor doing their own testing and debugging, because someone else who does know the requirements will ALSO be testing it.This is a red herring. There are so many obstacles put in the way of this program that obviously are there to prevent a successful deployment. And it hasn’t been the first month!
