I’ve already refuted your comparison to RomneyCare on another thread. You can’t keep spreading this “misinformation.”Not sure where that was, but in all major aspects, Romneycare = Obamacare = Butler’s Heritage Foundation proposal. All preserve the place of private insurers as the dominant means of paying for healthcare, with their ability to compete for profits intact. All subsidize the cost for lower income Americans. All include a mandate/penalty for anyone who decides to forego insurance. After giving up on Single Payer, the Public Option & reducing the subsidies, I’m not sure what else could have been done to get Republicans on board with the ACA. It seems that they walked away from what had been the conservative vision of health care reform. Whether it’s because they sincerely believed it wasn’t a good idea after all, or if it was because a President they wanted to limit to one term, implemented it, I can’t say for sure. I have strong suspicions, though.
Wow, Boehner is as hated by the libs as Pelosi was hated by the Republicans. It has come full circle. The interesting question is, who was hated more by their partisans on the extreme? I would argue that Pelosi did a better job of making her partisans get in line when it counted.I’m not a huge fan of Pelosi. She voted for the Patriot Act & failed to push through anything to help homeowners who were drowned by the mortgage crisis, though she managed to help pass TARP. She pushed the ACA through without a Public Option. Pelosi faced strong opposition from her left on all of those votes, yet delivered.Boehner doesn’t seem to have that kind of resolve or control.
