I respectfully disagree, Harley. We survived it, but according to the head of the IMF, if the US Congress had done its job of working together the US and world economy would be an estimated 4% higher than it is today. Congress is not only holding back our nation, they are holding back the planet. As far as your assertion that the ACA is not supported by MOST Americans, it apparently depends on how informed an individual American is and where they get their information about the program.I am on record, ad nauseum, that the bill is deeply flawed and needs our legislators to work with experts in the fields of medicine, insurance, and efficiency in a civil and respectful bipartisan manner to fix it. I’ve seen no credible information that it will cause carnage, certainly not on the scale of the Congress failing to do its job to keep the economy on track and finding ways to encourage the ‘job creators’ to put our neighbors to work at jobs that pay living wages. The following are just a small sampling of the sites that indicate the ACA has value despite the criticism it receives.^http://www.forbes.com/sites/realspin/2013/09/12/will-health-insurance-in-the-world-of-obamacare-be-affordable-it-depends-whom-you-ask/^http://www.inquisitr.com/954525/obamacare-or-obamascare-starbucks-ceo-upbeat-foxs-hasselbeck-fearmongering/^http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2013-09-05/obamacare-insurance-costs-affordable-kaiser-survey-finds.html^I am truly sorry our leaders, Congress and POTUS alike, are unable to work together, and would welcome hearing your ideas on what should be done to keep medical costs from surpassing our GDP as predicted by the 2020s. Feel free to supply links as my mind is open to solutions that don’t result in bullets to the brain. Really stupid cartoon Mr. Arial gives us, especially after the shootings in DC.Respectfully,C.

The problem is that even if the House does pass a budget, the one they are trying to pass, the Democrats in the Senate are against it. So Ariail you need a j@ck@ss in there as well.

“I saw a poll the other day that showed that the majority of Americans think shutting down the government is not a bad thing.”

But, that doesn’t make it a good thing.

I hope and pray for that all the time. I used to be a republican until Reagan and the ones since then have been in power. They are all trying to out-extreme each other. My governor is one of the worst.

No, since ACA is the law (and ratified by A republican Supreme Court), if you say don’t fund it, YOU are the one shutting down the government.

this is what is happening where I live. Kansas is blood red and Brownback is too. He has blocked medicaid so that the most needy may have to pay more than the less needy. It doesn’t make sense.Of course, the ACA will work well in the blue states and will be hosed up in the red ones.

Sometimes it take a while to get current with any changes. you should look up the arctic death spiral on think progress.com Except I guess I shouldn’t expect the GOP to desire progress.

What the GOP has given us has been the patriot act which promotes snooping, an economic crash 2nd to the great depression, a war based on lies, and possibly a false flag attack on the nation. The deficit has been steadily shrinking and jobs are steadily being found under Obama. BUt racial hatred of Obama is very strong amongst the GOP.
