The proof has been arond for over 10 years, and was highlighted in the news again recently. In 2002, Michael Dobbs (of the Washington Post) disclosed declassified documents that confirmed this. Within his article is the quote, “The administrations of Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush authorized the sale to Iraq of numerous items that had both military and civilian applications, including poisonous chemicals and deadly biological viruses, such as anthrax and bubonic plague.”
Tigger, giving Saddam chemical and biological weapons in the 80s does not mean he had them 15 years later. If you read the 2002 article, you’d see that we knew Saddam was using them regularly against the Iranians back then. And they don’t have an indefinite shelf-life. The fact that UN inspectors couldn’t find them in 2002-2003 weighs heavier than “well, we gave him some 15 years ago, and we don’t know how much he used or disposed of, or whether what he has is still potent.” Going to war requires a higher degree of certainty, assuming that was really the reason we went in.
Maybe because they knew Saddam used them, had no real access to outside uncensored news, and were told we’d use them? How bout some common sense instead of Hannity’s Syria conspiracy? And the weapons that WERE found in Iraq were so degraded they couldn’t be of use.
You obviously didn’t read all the previous comments. Here is what I wrote ealier today:“The proof has been arond for over 10 years, and was highlighted in the news again recently.
