the people who lost those jobs are slowly getting re-hired, most at a pay-cut. THe economics of CEO’s and owners take all is not working. Most people on SNAP are the working poor. It really bothers me that some loud people call this group, as well as those who have had a major healthcare costs, as well as other disasters, Those people are still calling them “the lazy bums who want free stuff” Most people who need help the most are truly unable to make it by .themselves. Not welfare queens.
“And for remembering the Bush presidency.”yes, bush’s ‘jobless recovery’, the loss of over 700,000 jobs per month for over a year, the seizing of the credit market, the explosion of the housing market.two unjust wars on the credit card, the fleecing of the treasury by the oligarchs, the suspension of the first amendment – protestors were only allowed to assemble and speak their voice in ‘free speech zones’, only allowing loyal party followers into bush speeches (hows that for an oxymoron).not to mention the inappropriate actions with foreign dignitaries, vomiting on the Japanese minister, giving an unwanted shoulder massage to the german PM. I could keep going, but I have things to do today.
Check out gas price history. In the summer of 2008, gas prices were around 4 dollars per gallon. Then suddenly, right before the election, gas prices plummeted to $1.67 per gallon. It was extraordinary. When Obama was inaugurated, the price had risen back to $1.89, so now everyone who has a problem with him can shout about how he doubled gas prices in his terms as president. The price being that low was, at best, a fluke.
“….. Back when unemployment was up, gas prices lower, etc., etc. Ah yes, remember the Bush Presidency., ……”.You’re right, unemployment was up, or on its way up as 2008 was the largest year for job loss since 1945 and the economy was hemorrhaging around 700,000 jobs monthly. Gas prices were lower because gas prices usually are lower in recessions because of lower demand.
“Why are so many willing to be unpaid mouthpieces for the right wing conservative extremists ?”.Could it be because there are so many other mouth pieces of left wing Kool Aid slammers? Take a look at Kit’s comment, still blaming Bush after 5 years of Obama presidency. Tell me some coherent thought went into that and it wasn’t just the Kool Aid reflex.
