Over 100,000 dead, and 300 by chemical weapons (nerve agent that is far more “humane” than any “conventional” weapon!!) and pondering, when we don’t have a CLUE who would be in charge, or even slightly better than Assad, is wrong?
We need to ponder on Syria, and Egypt, permanently, and NOT get involved. If “the world” is concerned, then let NATO or others groups take action, and this time we can sit it out, and let someone else screwup a couple countries like we did in Iraq and Afghanistan!
Enokiv: Get your presidential games straight. Eisenhower spent all his time playing golf. Obama plays basketball. Well, maybe just enough golf to be able to talk to the corporate executive who really rule the country.
Michael wme has hit on another critical point in the region: Israel HAS bombed Syria, repeatedly, and Iraq, and Jordan, and Egypt, and bombed and occupied for nearly two decades southern Lebanon before finally pulling out.
It is right wingers, at home and abroad, supported by chickenhawks who don’t fight themselves, think “orthodox” as well as ""conservative" folks, who’ve caused over 60 years of wars in the Middle East, and supported repeated overthrows of governments, including democratically elected ones like in Iraq, Iran, and yes, Egypt, when “the west” didn’t like the outcome. It IS time to let the MIDDLE EAST DETERMINE, without interference, what happens in the Middle East, and South Asia, determine THEIR destiny, without European or “western” benefits being the determining factor!
There are, almost by definition, plenty of “innocents” caught in the crossfire that has resulted from all of the Middle East fighting. But apart from the Israelis, and then only just maybe, there are amongst all of the various combatants few, if indeed any, even sort of “good guys” that we could or should support. They ALL hate the Western Infidel, and oftentimes with good reason. It’s impossible to see how we’ll “protect” any of the “innocents” by bombing them, and as for the combatants, well…

What did you expect from a state Senator who voted “Present”?

Would adding cruise missiles to the (soon-t-be) rubble pile of the dictator’s palace help anybody?

I only wish Bush had pondered more!

Right Benbrilling! Bush should have pondered more. A president who just acts rashly is one who needs more watchdogs.
