    Stirred, not shaken. The shaking of Martinis was a joke by Ian Fleming and it just got away. Shaking is for fruit and sugar drinks, not clear or straight liquor.

    I can’t abide gin – even the smell, which reminds me of horse liniment . However, I have great affection to a really good, dirty vodka martini, and occasionally, might even show warmth to a well-made very dry vodka Gibson, or a well behaved vodka Gimlet.

    Keep the gin or vodka and the glasses in the freezer then put a little vermouth in the glass swirl it around thin dump it out the put as much of your choice of vodka or gin as you like!
