Yep, that would be my state. And Governor Goodhair won’t seek a 4th term, thank God. And, continuing the good news, he WILL run for the GOP nomination for prez again, assuring us of major comic relief during the annual Texas Drought for 2016.
If a fetus isn’t a baby, why are those who kill pregnant women charged with two murders? If you haven’t experienced an operation on a fetus and seen the tiny hand move and suck its thumb, then perhaps you are not really aware of the beauty of life. Dr. and mom of adopted children.
A lot of you are missing the point altogether. It is NOT a matter of pro-choice / anti-choice. Face up to the actual fact that if we don’t start trying to reduce the number of people being born, we will condemn our children, and our children’s children, to a dying world. Overpopulation is the biggest threat – and a whole lot of people apparently can’t see the forest for the trees. Please try to educate yourselves about the dangers of Overpopulation – to the entire planet.
“Boy, these conservatives are really something, aren’t they? They’re all in favor of the unborn. They will do anything for the unborn. But once you’re born, you’re on your own. Pro-life conservatives are obsessed with the fetus from conception to nine months. After that, they don’t want to know about you. They don’t want to hear from you. No nothing. No neonatal care, no day care, no head start, no school lunch, no food stamps, no welfare, no nothing. If you’re preborn, you’re fine; if you’re preschool, you’re f**ked.”George Carlin
Hey, here’s a great idea for all of you who are so anti-abortion;MAKE BIRTH CONTROL CHEAP AND VERY EASY TO OBTAIN!But the anti-abortion crowd won’t support that because their ultimate goal isn’t saving lives, it’s making sure “sluts” can’t have sex without consequences. When have you ever seen people at an anti-abortion rally handing out condoms or any form of birth control?
“No serious scholar sees overpopulation as a threat anymore. "Seriously? The only possibilities of preventing our world from becoming so crowded that it runs out of food and potable water is a pandemic, nuclear war, draconian birthing limits (like China) or (and I’m guessing this applies to a lot of the folks saying “overpopulation is not a problem”) The Rapture. We’re at 7 billion now, and it’s getting mighty crowded and uncomfortable. What’s your plan for when it gets to 10 billion, or 15?
As someone from Texas?[]Contrary to popular belief, the plant in West was visited by Texas state regulators a few months prior to the blast.[]So what happened?[]Turns out that there was no one single federal, state, county, or local agency with the authority to oversee 100% of the plant’s operations. []Every single agency who had oversight over the plant only had oversight over specific areas, and so could only address issues with their specific areas. []The Texas state regulators? The ones that were brought in addressed what was in their jurisdiction to address and then moved on. []In other words, folks, it’s not “deregulation” or “state-level incompetence”. It’s “the patchwork system in place at the time.” []If anything, the various Texas state regulators were at the plant far more and far more frequently than the federal regulators, which should say something about who was more active in policing things.
Governors Bush and Perry proved that in Texas, “sanctity of life” is a load of fertilizer. Just as “Giggling George” proved by needling Carla Fay Tucker, just a a joke, right? Of course if you have a chain and pickup, you can welcome neighbors into the neighborhood for a little diversity.
Plus, deregulation, ignoring what few DO exist, is also very “Texas”, and proves their fanatic pursuit of safety and restrictions on corporate profits for the “good of the people”…
Darren: with respect, did you miss “ignore”? Texas, like Alaska, entered the union with some “unique” elements, even after they left and came back. Among those features was private land doctrine, and well things like oil reserves, and Texas being willing to lease to China on their state lands and offshore reserves.
Thank you. Well said and absolutely correct. My mom told me that when she was pregnant for the second time, she lost the baby after just a few weeks. “Does the pro-life movement think the fetus was a person? If so, do they think I should have had a funeral service?”

??? Fetuses have so many lobbyists spreading TONS of money around, you’d think Scrooge McDuck was funding the anti-choice movement.
