State laws may require vets to report animal abuse or cruelty. But sometimes (as in this case) the cruelty is visited upon the human.

Reminds me of the Jeff Foxworthy story about a Beaver and a man’s (former) chest appendage.

“This isn’t the universe where badgers are pets. "

I’m sure there are people in this universe who’ve tried.

Of course, there’s nothing in this strip to indicate the man keeps the badger as a pet, and there’s nothing which limits Dr. Mollenhoff’s practice to those animals which ARE kept as pets. I’d imagine most veterinarians have been called upon to treat an injured raccoon or baby bird or what-have-you from time to time…

Just recently an Indiana man, Jeffrey Henry, rescued a bald eagle from certain death and reported it after having it in his apartment for 11 hours. He had been taking care of it in the wild for several weeks. Since the eagle is a protected species the government may fine him $500 and put him in jail for 60 days. .Sometimes it doesn’t pay to be a good Samaritan?
