Dazz, speaking of Ho Ho’s, I wonder if that was a harbinger of things to come for you?

Just how many times were you caught In Flagrante Delicto??

Ordinarily, or I should say, with anyone but Joy, I would mock the suggestion that somebody would purposely give bad-tasting bread as a gift.

But consider, if you will, that Joy admits she hung up on Sue.Why would Sue then give her NICE bread? It’s not like she actually likes the Pennys, cos nobody does.

In fact, Joy has no actual friends…with the possible exception of her sister and Marlene, either of whom she would sell out in a nanosecond were someone “better” to come along. So I’m thinking she might be right…. Sue did it on purpose.

Nothing like a fresh loaf of acrimony bread between frenemies….

By the way, thanks to everyone with your bread making suggestions. Good advice. But until I encounter another bread machine, I’ll stick to Seedless Jewish Rye from Kroger. (Ralph’s on the Left Coast)

I’m surprised that Sue didn’t include a “special” ingredient like, maybe, some of that powder they give you the day before a colonoscopy. Or the famous chocolate flavoured X-Lax.

@jmc, Why would anyone want seedless rye? I bought sourdough starter and rye flour just to try to make a better sourdough rye bread with MORE caraway seeds. I like more flavor – very ZESTY!

@Leaky, you KNOW better than to ask me THAT! I never get caught ;-D

I kept getting sidetracked from the bread making (with diets restricting which kinds of flour I can eat. Right now the weather is too HOT to want to heat up the house with any baking, but those almond flour crackers I made are really yummy and the tops of the Italian spice ones are totally COVERED with caraway seeds. (I used anise seeds on the cinnamon-nutmeg crackers).

Dazz, at the risk of you beating me with a soggy French loaf, I just don’t like caraway seeds. Now, you can mix in some jalapeno peppers and some sun dried tomatoes, and you will have me eating out of your hand.Literally.

Imake it a point NOT to eat anything anyone else makes until I’ve seen the state of his/her kitchen! I was invitrd to lunch at the home of a lovely woman only to encounter a kitchen the health dept. would have shut down. Cat food cans all over the floort, piles of dirty dishes and spilled food everywhere. I suggested I take her out to lunch instead. She later mentioned that she got that response a lot! Clueless!

Jmc’s suggestion would be good for some crustadas but I don’t like anything on fresh bread that makes it soggy (Italian beef with the gravy on the bread- NO!) And seedless rye just makes no sense to me.

I just had my breakfast omelet -egg white with 6 cloves of garlic sliced very thin and chopped sweet pepper. (spinach, whole wheat toast and V8 on the side). I sort of poach the omelet because I heard that raw garlic is healthier (and it’s lovely and crunchy). Food should be enjoyable no matter WHAT you like!

@Leaky, Poor little Fitzroy went with me to Chicago last July and we took him down to stay with my son during my month there. I think the excitement of the travel and all was too much for him (unless he was much older than I was told at the shelter where I adopted him). The vet said he had had a stroke or heart attack (typical of an older bird) when she saw him. I brought home his ashes and got a pretty brass box for them that now sits beside Cuddles’ taxidermy. I decided not to adopt again as I plan to travel regularly. Fitzroy enjoying an outdoor event

Thanks! I’ll be fine as long as I have the man I love, tho’. Having a pet is just a substitute for the REAL object of one’s affections ;-D
