They’ve had decades of retelling the same story for the details to blur and certain aspects to get dropped. Sort of like a game of telephone except with only one person.
The ones who weren’t didn’t survive long enough to become old

My son never speaks of the Gulf War so I don’t ask.
We are the ones that gave you the freedom to live the way we are living today (for good or bad)…..
We talk but only with those who were there.
If they are old, it is because they survived to that.
