    From what I’ve been reading, social insect queens don’t make any “decisions” for running the colony. She just cranks out eggs. The worker bees have leaders that “decide” what roles are needed, when to make a new queen and split the colony, and even when to kill and replace the queen when her egg laying slacks off.

    I looked and looked for #173 in the photo, but couldn’t spot him (her?). Tim should have included him in the photo; it would have lent a “Where’s Waldo?” (or whatever #173 is named) vibe to the panel.
