Nice try Chairman Obamao, the only one mentioning going after Social Security has been you and the democratic National Socialist Party. The Republicans have been going after wellfare and foreign aid, two things you will not even touch.

Yeah, two things that don’t add up to anything when it comes to percentage of GDP. At least Obama, unlike Bush, wisely chose not to start any wars that would send the country into the massive sinkhole of debt we’re still trying to climb out of.

Obama knows that Social Security isn’t going to get cut and that’s why he put it in there. He WANTS people to scream and kick about it so that he can say, “But how else are we going to compromise with Republicans?”

Believe otherwise if you want and while you’re at it buy up a few foreclosed homes in Florida as a real estate investment.

Sorry, but you are dead wrong, I hold a PhD; I, am not stupid; I am also a former Fulbright scholar, but I am older. It is the young government education youth who are stupid. So far my “safety net” as you call it is doing just fine. It is NOT being taken away, What is taken from me are the rights my Revolutionary ancestors fought to give us.

GOP wants to eliminate the poor in America. And I mean ELIMINATE them. One neck at a time.

Keying “taxes” or fees for SS and Medicare to actuarial tables and costs, does make sense, and some adjustments are needed. However, the fact that canceling the F-35 would eliminate the SS and Medicare problem is a serious point. Just eliminating the “cost plus” overruns in costs for the “Stryker” program would also go a long way toward balancing the budget, let alone removing all troops from Afghanistan THIS YEAR!

Amazing, when Obama considers doing what Republicans suggest, both they AND Democrats attack him! The answer is that NEITHER SIDE of the extremes actually offer any rational answers, only more rhetoric.

Normally, I agree with you, but the “lock box” is very alive and well. ANY money received by social security through the FICA tax MUST by law first go to those receiving current benefits. After that all remaining monies (and there are still remaining monies at this time) MUST also by law be directly invested in T-bill bonds. Those T-bills have resulted in social security directly owning some $3 trillion dollars of the National Debt And in fact social security is the largest single investor in the National Debt. And the National Debt of this country is considered world wide to be one of the best investments anyone can make anywhere. It is NOT even to be considered that the US would default on the interest of this debt, whether the likes of the Republicans or the Democrats like it or not. The entire economic system of the planet would collapse if that were to be allowed to happen, and then even the wealthy and very wealthy would be in deep trouble!

As a result of this, social security current benefits are secure until the year 2035, even if the economy does not improve that much in the meantime, and it is secure up until the year 2045 if the economy improves as much as most economists think it is going to improve. In that time frame if the top of the amount that someone has to continue to pay FICA is raised from its current $120,000 or so up to only about twice that number, then social security is secure until just about 2085, or even quite possibly after the year 2100!

THE biggest lie being told to the American people is that social security is somehow in financial trouble, and will therefore not be there for future generations, that my friend is pure unmitigated HOGWASH!!!!!

Many conservatives also want “free stuff” that they can’t or won’t pay for, such as a world dominant military, a huge and growing Department of Homeland Security, at least 17 (and maybe more) intelligence agencies, the largest per-capita prison population in the world. This hits or comes close to $1 trillion per year, and the list certainly doesn’t end here.*They also don’t want to pay for the tax breaks (rebates, deductions, subsidies, loopholes, etc.) that go to the “job creators”- whether they create jobs or not.

My apologies for my error. Thank you for the Thumbs Up .I’m what I call a “New Testament Christian,” whereas Ms. Ima is definitely an “Old Testament Christian.” Far too often the OTC’s preach a lot of Jesus, but practice little to none.
