In 1965 or thereabouts, my folks went to Europe because my dad was addressing an international engineers’ symposium. They took my younger sister, then about 13, with them. In France she discovered the bikini, and they let her get one. Surprised the living daylights out of me, because you never met anyone more conservative than my dad.
