Amen and thank God. Mother church will not bend to the will and ways of this world. She stands as a beacon to those who will reject the world and seek God. Do not bring up the faults and failings of the people in it. God already knows it. Do you think Jesus didn’t realize what He was doing when He ordained his Apostles and gave the keys to Peter that they were not human with a sinful nature? Jesus, I trust in you.

He’s also the 266th Catholic Pope. So much for diversity and cross cultural inclusion.

“She stands as a beacon to those who will reject the world and seek God.”

Where does the bible tell us to reject the world? How would one even go about it?

Um, no. Not in the last few hundred years! Mostly they’re the liberals. In fact, the Society of Jesus has been banned by the Pope three times, I think, for being too difficult. This one isn’t liberal politically, as it happens,

Pope John XX111 of Vatican 2 was the most non conservative Pope maybe ever. He wanted to “open the windows and let fresh air into the Church.”

If I read this right, Rogers’ point is, there are too many conservative popes. But unless he’s a Catholic, why does he or anybody else in the media CARE? Nobody’s forcing anyone to be Catholic. The Catholics who disagree with the pope can leave, find another church (my whole family did). All the busybodies in the media are just embarrassing themselves – who cares if Catholics want to be Catholics? What business is it of the rest of us? We’re told by (often) the same media that a woman’s body is her own and not my business – ok fine – so why is anyone’s religion any of THEIR business? You lefties that AREN’T Catholic – can’t you leave them alone?

The Catholic church has existed as an institution for a lot longer than the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. It’ll still be around a few millennia after all trace of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette has evaporated.

regarding rejecting the world, I do not quote bible passages. I just read the Gospels and walk away always satisfied. Jesus spoke many things regarding this world. eg. “My kingdom is not of this world.” about the rich man “go sell all you own, give it to the poor and come follow me.” Of course, the life of St. Francis of Assisi reflects this all perfectly.
