On my 1st trip to the US I was taken to a McD’s by my American hosts. I was struck by how large the cup sizes were. Then I was told that the refills were free. What was the point of having large sized cups? Fewer refill trips? [yeah, yeah, I suppose some folks don’t want to hang about in a fast-food joint and want to carry away as much free coke as their little legs can carry them].

So the first three words of the constitution “WE THE PEOPLE” means that we aren’t responsible for each other? Who knew.

Trying to keep people from having such a large sugar intake is sort of like helmet laws for motorcycles. It goes against personal freedoms, but saves the rest of a lot money in healthcare costs. But I do agree with the judge that the rules were somewhat capricious in the places where the portion size was limited. If he is going to limit the drinks, the locations should be more comprehensive.

One of the issues is that poor kids are fatter and that taxpayers foot the bill for their diabetes and other problems that obesity causes.
