I was lucky. Since I had just joined the company that fall I was not on the YK2 team so was able to relax at home and watch the celebrations around the globe. Since the first one I saw was Tokyo I knew the YK2 doomsday predictions would not come true.
Unfortunately one of my co-workers was a touch over the top in his YK2 preparations. Spent 2 years purchasing supplies to last several months, the best generator and enough fuel to keep running for months, and weapons and ammunition to defend his food supplies. When we returned to work in January 2000 he was not there. I only saw him once before he went into treatment for a mental breakdown. Too bad as he was a good person to work with.
Cathy’s job isn’t in I.T., so why does SHE have to stay there on New Year’s Eve and watch for Y2K computer glitches? Even if something were to happen, then what is she supposed to DO about it? This is a job for someone who’s actually in I.T. to take care of ….. not someone whose computer knowledge may be a lot like mine: lucky to know how to turn it on and do the simplest of things without (hopefully) blowing the darn thing up in the process! :-D

Welcome to IT. We only really work when other people don’t, otherwise people don’t work when they are supposed to.

Yep, someone at my office was on call. Honestly I don’t think Cathy does enough important work to actually be in the office for Y2K.
Hello Cathy friends! Happy Tuesday! Have a great day, all!

Cathy’s an account executive. There is ZERO chance she’s the right person to be looking for glitches.

Well, with free pizza vouchers, who wouldn’t want to spend Y2K looking for computer glitches at work? [Sarcasm font off now; ha]
HI, MOM. Hello, Clan.
