I think Cathy was going to get this purse no matter what, and just had to come up with the optimal excuse. This is likely what she will tell Irving. Maybe he is in the electronics store at the same time, saying to himself, “Since Cathy bought a really expensive purse, I’ll splurge on this cute little iPad”

Those luggage sized purse styles didn’t last all that long. Turn it into a planter later to get your money’s worth out of it.

Learn the difference between ‘want’ and ‘need’ and you won’t have that problem…..or am I being too pragmatic?

And here I thought she was going to buy the $350.00 purse from Tuesday because this exact same saleslady had her convinced that her hips could “become petite”, her thighs “look miniscule”, and her “derriere disappear” depending on which part of the body she held it against! ;-)

Just makes me wonder if this “really expensive” purse is the same price as that one, or if it’s maybe even MORE expensive than that? And why use these excuses when she could just as easily use the others that already had her believing that $350.00 was a real bargain because of everything it could “do” to help her body look better? Well, no matter what reason(s) she comes up with in order to “justify” such a hideously expensive (not to mention completely unnecessary) purchase, it’s a virtual guarantee that Cathy WILL splurge on something else this year — and more than once, too — because she’s an out-of-control shopaholic and that’s just what she does!

I read that third ‘if’ and immediately thought ‘ya, right!’. There is no way she will not splurge on something else in the coming year – probably by tomorrow. And yes, Nubmaeme you are being way too pragmatic when it comes to Cathy. For her want is need.
