The idiot box did not really get any better, it just got more personalized, and targeted. Just because I am not talking, it does not mean I am not communicating.
This is one of the things that I do like about the internet. I can “travel” the world without ever leaving the house. I can expand my horizons in many ways and get a different perspective on things, just by typing on a keyboard and reading (or watching and listening). That’s great! I do think that it doesn’t really substitute for actually traveling to another country or talking to people face to face, but it’s a step in the right direction.

Imaging wasting all that time reading comments from all over the world. Wait a minute! Isn’t that what I am doing right now? True, but it is not a waste of time at all. I am taking a break from programming anyway so why not read comments from people all over the world – especially since I work alone and there is no one else here to communicate with (my wife is out for the afternoon). I think it would be awesome if everyone here could actually meet in person somewhere, someday so we could actually talk in more than a few sentences at a time. I met a lot of really nice people here in the past few years. I do miss people that are no longer here – like Aaron, Dr. BIlly, CoolFunkyGirl, and anona mouse to name a few. I do think of anona mouse every now and again when I run across her books on the shelves of my library. I wonder what happened to them all?
Glad everyone here is here today. Hope you do have a good day. Mine is a little warmer today. Furnace gave out last Saturday night (on a warm night at that, only -27C. Sunday night it went down to -40C) so our two gas fireplaces had the job of keeping the house warm. Worked out ok and the new furnace was installed yesterday. Just really happy I always have at least two heat sources in any house I live in.
I too wish some folks would re-connect…would love to hear from them. It’s been cold here too, hendelca…didn’t get above zero F all day yesterday, -14 F all last night and last time I was out it was up to 4 F this afternoon.
