Living in a western state this is true and somewhat disgusting, many states have freeway rest stops without restrooms for drivers to sleep if drousy, if you ever go to one of them they reek of urine and other smells.
My daughter and mines favourite car game on long trips is to have a competition to see how many men weeing on the side of the road we see. I get the drivers side, she the passenger side. Our top score was 17 on her side for a 2 hour trip!
