WRONG Scotty! Yesteray I heard conservative talk show host Lars Larson saying that it might be a good idea if we went over the fiscal cliff…because maybe it would wake people up to what a horrible mistake they made when they re-elected Barack Obama.
And that wasn’t the first or only time I heard that sentiment expressed by a rhgit-winger
Liberals LOVE to tell other people to SHUT UP! They don’t have any other power but to try to take away free speech from others.I didn’t realize Bill O’Reilly is considered a liberal.
Mr. Limbaugh calls himself an entertainer but his words make people who believe him write letters and call legislators. Rush is to his conservative listeners, equivalent to Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert to their listeners. We can debate their various levels of “truthiness”, but the point is, they are preaching to their individual choirs who have already made up their minds. I do not like Rush Limbaugh and have sent emails to some of his sponsors. We can vote with our wallets. I don’t buy Brawny paper towels for instance, because they are produced by the Koch brothersPerhaps, Mr. Limbaugh will one day be properly sued for libel of slander, but until that day, his first amendment rights must be tolerated, if not respected, unless we are prepared to have commentators we like silenced as well.Change the channel, not the laws.Respectfully,C.
“I’m sure we can all believe Rush wants the world to end. (rolling eyes).”
Two thoughts: one is that many posters are willing to believe that Mr. Obama is trying to destroy the country/the world/the universe. I will be willing to accept the fact that no one really tries to make things worse. I will also submit that this line of thinking (that the other guy is out to blow up the world) is why we can’t find any common ground regarding, well, anything.
The other is to wonder whether I have to remind you that Rush’s first show after the 2008 election was based on one theme that he actually stated: “I hope he fails.” And that’s what his Republican followers have been trying to do for five years now, regardless of consequences.
I will be the first to admit that I was sure that Dubya would be a very bad president, and failure would be his legacy. However, I never wished for it; instead, I wished (but my wish was not granted) that my assessment was incorrect. There is a difference.
As to Mr. Obama not pronouncing names right: if this is his worst sin, he’s a better man than most of us. I only have 4 letters in my last name, and people butcher it all the time. Doesn’t mean I hate them for it.
As for mentioning the name of the country, it’s easier to attract bees with honey than with vinegar. How would we like it if a head of state called our country the Confederate States of America? (This question not applicable in South Carolina or Texas.) While I agree we have not chosen to call it Myanmar, they certainly have, and to call it Burma is the same as going to Istanbul and calling it Constantinople, which I personally like better.
And remember, Mr. GHW Bush threw up on the Japanese president. We’re all human, and we have human failures.
There’s plenty to be legitimately unhappy about in the Obama administration. I find it almost comical how people ignore the festering problems and pick at little nits.
Rush earns $50 million per year by saying inflammatory things that keep his audience tuned in and listening to his advertisers. Explaining his behavior is that simple.
He may or may not believe what he is saying, just like a lot of other entertainers. But it keeps the money rolling in.
Rush is an drug addicted fool who Repubtards listen and believe in.Keep it up guys the Democrats love it,with Rush leading the way there wont be another Republican POTUS for decades
1. Stewart and Colbert base their COMEDY on actual facts. 2. LImbaugh’s constant little “songs and ditties” he plays off purely racist and bigoted themes, and his attacks on such as Fluke, or his own arrest for illegal drugs, where he served only “community service”, when by HIS OWN MODEL should have resulted in a life sentence, are ever-present reminders of what a fraud, and dangerous one, he is with his microphone, and “filth” he spreads over the airwaves.3. I don’t even say Rush should “shut up”, though it’s what he tells anyone who opposes his views, and if they call in, he cuts them off. HOwever, folks SHOULD listen occasionally to Rush, yes Pepto-Bismal may help sometimes, just to know how much hate IS spewing out to the dittoheads, who are constantly citing his statements here, then denying they listen to him.
In case anyone thinks I disparage Jon Stewart or Stephen Colbert, I consider them both more honest, sincere, compassionate, and bipartisan than Rush Limbaugh and 80% of the Fox News staff. Jon Stewart is the Will Rogers and Mark Twain of our generation while Rush Limbaugh…isn’t.C.
Don’t stop there, Jase—there is plenty you do not realize.Such as war is peace, freedom is slavery, and ignorance is strength? While I’m at it, I suppose I should realize giving guns to teachers and having armed guards patrol the elementary school halls is the way to make the children feel safe.
